This shop at 5, Market Place later became better known as Cherrington's Chemist Shop. The proprietor of the shop at the time of the photograph, Frederick March, is pictured here with some of his staff. There has been a chemist shop on this site as early as 1780 with George Cherrington becoming an apprentice at the business in 1882. The tennant in 1780 was George Stevenson, 'Druggist'. The building was part of the Duke of Newcastle's Estate and Stevenson paid an annual rent of
