Main Street, Epperstone, c 1900

Main Street (lower end)
Epperstone
England

This picture is of the lower end of Main Street. Just beyond the pan tiled barn on the right the road branches right for Lowdham via Wash Bridge. The road behind the figures is Gonalston Lane. The pan tiled barn, which still stands (as of 2010), belongs to what was then known as Tan Yard Farm (not visible). The farm at that period was probably in use by the Perkins family. In front of the garden gate to the left of the picture is the start of Hagg Lane, a narrow and steep track leading to farms on the hills to the north. Information supplied by Richard J Brumpton
