Victoria' bus, travelled from Newark to Old Balderton. The bus in this photo has been coachbuilt by Stephenson's of Newark to a simple design that the firm used regularly and is easy to recognise. It has been built onto a Ford Model T commercial chassis. This lengthened chassis had been introduced in 1917 for the Ford 1 ton truck and was available to coachbuilders for ten years, with little change in the design. The advantages were strength, simple design and easy maintenance. Although rather dated in appearance, this bus was probably built in circa 1927. The registration number NN 4169 would have been issued at about this date by Nottinghamshire County Council; the NN series commenced in May 1921. The route board in the side window of the bus reads - NEWARK & OLD BALDERTON.
