Chesterfield Grammar School outing to the Peak District

This photograph is of an outing to the Peak District of staff and pupils of Chesterfield Grammar School. The headmaster, James Mansell, is seated in the centre of the picture. The little girl on the extreme right is his elder daughter Eva. Seated at the front to the left of the picture is her mother, Sarah Mansell, with her son Ralph Mansell. Sitting close to the headmasteris the head boy, Frederick 'Gus' Sharpe, who married Eva Mansell in 1914. He was then Chesterfield's Medical Officer of Health. Eva Mansell was born in 1890 and looks about six in this picture, dating it to approximately 1896-7. James Mansell died in Buxton in 1943.
