The London Road Sub-Post Office was located in the small park known as London Road Gardens, opposite South Parade. It was opened in 1905 and closed in 1934, when it was replaced by the current sub-post office at the south end of Whitfield Street. It was run by Mr Oliver Smith Pollard and it operated from within his confectionery shop. The gable on the side of the property also shows a sign advertising 'Oliver Pollard, House Decorator'
