Gracie Fields visited and performed in the factory canteen at Ransom & Marles' ball bearing factory at Newark on Sunday 3rd August 1941. She came as part of an E.N.S.A. show which performed between 12.15 and 3.00pm. owing to reporting restrictions the local newspapers did not report the event, but it is thought likely that the visit was a morale-booster after the bombing of Ransom & Marles' factory in March 1941.
