This picture is taken looking south west along Holme Lane. Made of brick recessed in stone, the nameplate was photographed on the west fide of the stairway leading to the main entrance. Winthorpe Hall was begun in 1761 by Dr Robert Taylor of Newark, physician to George II. No architect is recorded, and by the time of his death in 1762.
