Picture the Past website contributor Richard Proudley comments (March 2016):'This was the house that I lived in (with my parents) from 1948 to 1993. My parents had moved into the property prior to 1948, my brother being born there in 1943 and I believe my father's parents lived there previously. My father died in 1973 and my mother in 1993. After I moved out in 1993 the house and all adjoining buildings were sold and subsequently demolished. There is some history to the property in as much it was originally built as a pub (the Admiral Rodney I think) in the late 1700s/early 1800s and in some of the attached outbuildings there were signs that at some later stage there was a butcher's shop with associated slaughtering facilities. It was a pleasant reminder to see a photo of the old house; after demolition two modern houses were built on the site.'
