Brush built type 4 class 47 arriving with an up (southbound) stopping train at platform 1 at Retford, circa 1976. This was before the heacode displays on the locomotive were displaced and the station was rebuilt. The collection of luggage trolleys suggests that they had been removed from the island platform where the photographer is standing in order to allow the rebuilding work to commence.
