Carnival Queen Mabel Turton makes her way down Watnall Road close to its junction with High Street, complete with attendants and a 'police escort'.Picture the Past website contributor Garry Humphreys observes:<em> 'I wonder if all four policemen are genuine? T</em><em>he one second from the right I had assumed was a carnival character, but the uniform is quite convincing, even if the pose is uncharacteristic of an upstanding member of the constabulary of the time. My grandfather Albert Humphreys often dressed as a policeman for the Hucknall Carnivals - and I think features elsewhere on photographs in Picture the Past - but this is not him. However, the PC depicted does not look quite right.'</em>
