Replacing the floor and repairing the wall on the left which runs against St Mary's Church (where Byron is buried) yard. The Library is a grade II listed building, built in 1887 and paid for by J.E. Ellis and H.B. Paget. It is brick with plain tile roofs, ashlar dressings, chamfered plinth, moulded string course, dentillated eaves, shouldered coped gables. Renaissance revival style, with 3 gable and 2 side wall stacks. It is both single and 2 storeys, 5 bays wide and the windows have lead mullion casements.
