This is Chain Lane ��� an old street (now pedestrian only) leading from the Market Place to a shopping area behind the Town Hall. This photo was taken in 1965. The entrance behind the ���Toilets��� sign also gave access to the town���s old ���Slipper Baths��� ��� a public bath house. Visible in the picture are N E Kirkman & Sons flower shop and the Kings Head Public House (left).
