Albert Cast was recruited into the RAF in November 1941.��He was trained as a wireless operator and gunner.��Deployed to Suez aboard the Athlone��Castle, then onto Bombay (Mumbai), finally arriving at��Chittagong. The role of��2739 Squadron��was to defend airfields to keep the army supplied as they advanced. Albert became known as "Daddy" following his excited exclamation "I'm a Daddy" upon hearing the news of the birth of his son Michael. Albert was in Burma at the time.
