During Covid-19 outbreak, those at particular risk were told to remain at home and have no physical contact with others outside of their household. Reminiscent of the crosses marked on doors in Samuel Pepys diary 500 hundred years ago, this sign was a warning to others not to come into contact with the inhabitants.
