The Regiments��� record in Italy was impressive: actions at Cassino in May 1944, fighting as dismounted infantry in the Apennine Mountains outside Florence during the winter of 1944/45 and fighting in the final battles for the capture of Perugia, Argenta Gap and crossing of the river Po into the Po Valley. On 2nd May 1945 the German army in Italy surrendered.
