This pub was originally called the Grenville Arms. It became the Moth and Lantern in 1981 (the name was chosen by customers in a competition). The inn originally dates from 1850 (known then as the Railway Inn) , by 1890 was called the Railway Hotel and then changed its name to the Grenville Arms after World War II.
