Samuel Clay, the father died on July 6th 1865, aged 54, also to his wife Alice and to his father, also called Samuel who died after his son in 1881. The memorial is also dedicated to Alice and Samuel's son William who died unusually, aged 33, fighting in the American Civil War on June 3rd 1864.
