Procession to Priory Church for Memorial Service to King George VI, Worksop, 1952

On the morning of 15th February, a Memorial service to the late king was heald in the Priory Church, Worksop. Representatives of various organizations were marshalled at the Market Place and moved in procession via Potter Street to the church. The procession was preceded by Mr. A.E. Gladwin, Mace-bearer, and headed by the Mayor (Councillor J. Wilkinson), the Town Clerk (Mr. W.A. Williams), the Deputy Mayor (Alderman J.H. Saxton) and the Mayor's Chaplain (the Rev. J.R.J. Kerruish). It was followed by the representatives of the Borough Council, the Police, the Worksop Town Band, the Military, the British Legion, the St. John Ambulance Brigade, the Chamber of Trade, the local hospitals and other organisations. At the church the servicewas conducted by the Rev. E.H.W. Crusha, and the address was give by the Vicar, the Rev. J.G. Morton Howard. After the service the procession returned to the Market Place via Newcastle Street and Bridge street.
