Commander Philip Francklin; DSc, RN, JP of Gonalston Hall was president of the Newark and Notts Agricultural Show. Educated at RNC Dartmouth; he joined the Royal Navy in 1926; was the High Sheriff of Nottinghamshire in 1965 and became Lord Lieutenant in 1972. He was married with two sons and a daughter.
