Kings Mill Hospital was formerly used by the U S Army during World War 2. It was the 30th General Hospital of the U S Army and the first in England. It was visited during the war by Clark Gable, the famous Hollywood actor, whilst he was on active Service in Britain. See NCCW001537 for a picture of him on his visit. It became Kings Mill Hospital after the war and this plaque is still to be found in the foyer of the hospital.
