The White lion Inn Yard - a rock cut cellar and wash-house

The White Lion Inn's Yard was excavated entirely from the natural rock cliff which backs up to all the premises on this side of Church Street. This old inn closed in 1904. Recent investigations have revealed roof timbers dating from the early 16th century in this yard.
