Old Manor Farmhouse, Skegby

Back Lane
Skegby
England

The Old Manor Farmhouse, built in 1600-25, was once the home of the Radford Family. It stands near to the old manor house, built in 1207 by Spigurnel family, and altered later in the 13th century. Godfrey Spigurnal became Lord of the Manor of Skegby in 1223. His descendants held the estate until 1334 when Elizabeth Spigurnal disposed of it to Richard Pensax. His descendant passed it to Percival Lindley in 1450 which was the beginning of the three hundred year tenure of the Lindley family as Lords of the Manor. The Lindley Family also built Skegby Hall on Mansfield Road, which is now a community home. The farmhouse fell into ruins at the beginning of the 20th century, as it had been unoccupied for more than 20 years. It was purchased by the Caunt family in the 1920's and was later restored by the Rector of Kettering.
