Mr Alen Grice (as pictured) is a local man and locomotive engineer. He was involved with the restoration of the train he is pictured with. He was trained by the LMS as a locomotive fitter and lived in Kirkby and worked at Kirkby Loco until it closed. He then moved to Annesley Loco until that closed. He was later employed by the Great Central Railway at Loughborough, where this picture was taken. The locomotive is an ex-LMS 2-8-0F 48305.
