Bentinck Primary opened in 1880 as Alfreton Road School for Juniors. An additional Infants department followed nearby eight years later but this closed after only three years. The Senior Boys section closed in 1931 and in 1945 the Senior Girls became a separate secondary school. This view is looking north with Bentinck Road crossing from left to right. The half-cab bus on the right (Nottingham No 24, registration 24 ATO, new in 1957), turning onto Alfreton Road, has been relegated to driver training duties, and contrasts with the more modern vehicle (bound for Maid Marian Way) coming in from left. The lorry on the right belongs to S H Pownall, coal merchants of 51 Fisher Street, Nottingham.
