Former home of the Chambers family , who founded the Pencil Manufacturing Works, which stood on the site of this road. The firm moved to Sandiacre in the mid 1970s, and the factory was demolished. The family moved out several years before, and the house was used as their offices. It is now used by Johnson & Barnes - whose older works are seen in the rear, and modern works to the left - as a sales shop for their textiles. Johnson and Barnes is now demolished.
