Not known
Nottingham, Sneinton
England

Standing (9th from left) John Wood, (10th from left) Rev. Dodds (St Phillips), (14th from left) Emma Marshall. Seated, (3rd from left) Lizzie Row, (6th from left) Ethel Row and (8th from left) Ada Row Sneinton's name derives from the pre-norman inhabitants of the Nottingham area; the 'Snotes or Snots' (locals take great delight in the latter option!), and it suggests that Sneinton was the more inhabited part of the present city; 'Snot's ton' or town, as opposed to (s)nottingham which was only a hamlet. By 1850 the population of Sneinton had swelled to 8,500.
