Text provided by the photographer at the time the photograph was taken: The former Midland Railway bridge over the Grantham Canal at Lady Bay, seen from Orston Road East which is the access road to the maintenance depot of the Severn Trent Water Authority. The line was opened in 1879 and closed in 1967. In the background, through the bridge, is the site of Lady Bay Bridge and Radcliffe Road (A52). The canal is piped under the road in the foreground and joins the Trent a short distance away.
