The Birkin family lived at Lamcote House, they were lace manufacturers. Edward VIII was a regular visitor. White's Directory of 1853 gives the following information; 'Lamcote is another manor, belonging to Earl Manvers, and contains a small part of the village of Radcliffe on Trent, one mile east of Holme Pierrepont'. Now demolished.
