This view shows a ground floor room on the south side, east of the main entrance hall, to which the door leads. Pictured is caretaker Mr Croucher. The house was built in 1873 for Walter Tindsley, a lace manufacturer, and sold to Nottinghamshire County Council Education Department by a Mrs Ward, the last owner, in 1930. From then until 1976 it was used as a school, with boarding facilities, for children with special needs. After this it was left vacant for a time.
