Built in the 1960's as an indoor heated swimming baths. At the time, the only other swimming facility in the area was the freezing cold outdoor baths at Highfields-University park, or the equally cold outdoor baths at Ilkeston or long Eaton. The Leisure Centre now has water slides, gym, sauna and spa facilities.
