Circular view set of pictures taken from the top of the Town Arms, Trent Bridge. Picture 3 of a set of 7. Turney Brothers Leather Works Factory was built c 1875. Sir John Turney lived at Adbolton Hall and was Sheriff and Mayor (twice) of Nottingham. He was a member of the Corporation for 46 years.

    Turney Brothers Leather Dressers was Est in 1861 at Lincoln by Nottingham born brothers Edward and John Turney before relocating to the Trent Bridge site the following year. By 1871 the quadrangle of Buildings seen in the centre of the picture had already been built. For many years Sir John Turney lived at Springfield, Alexandra Park with his brother Edward living in a neighbouring property. In the early 20th Century Sir John moved to Gedling House. His son John Alfred Edward Turney who would succeed his father in the business would later live at Adbolton Hall.
