A common sight around Worksop from 1942 to 1947 were the ammunition shelters all over Clumber, Welbeck, Budby and along all roads. Originally prepared to build up supplies for the Normandy landings in June 1944, many were still there some years after the war ended. There are along the Nottingham Road to Carburton.
