Showing fireman George Godfrey and fire engine in the yard of the fire station (his sons also became firemen - see NCCN001131). The wicker basket was fitted to the end of the hose to act as a filter when sucking up water from ponds and rivers. The fire station stood directly opposite the Flour Mill. (The premises now belong to Mr J Speakes Garage).
