The celebration event was for Sir John Robinson's 68th Birthday. The following account was reported in the Worksop Guardian on the 12th July 1907 'Subsequently the old people were musically entertained, selections on a powerful gramophone were much enjoyed and Mr C Long's Violin solos set some of the old folks dancing'. A Victorian House stood at this time which replaced a far larger residence which contained 500 rooms. The older building was undergoing alterations, which had cost the Duke of Norfolk
