W J Jenkins was founded in 1896. They were constructing Gas making plant and making and repairing flour mill machinery. The firm became a subsidiary of Woodall-Duckham Group in the 1970's and are now part of Jenkins Newell Dunford Group Ltd. The machinery was used in the handling of coal. This coke breaker was capable of handling 30 tons of coke per hour.
