Isaac Marsden was a local Wesleyan preacher, who is believed to have inspired William Booth, founder of the Salvation Army. Booth said of Marsden, 'Mr. Marsden was conducting special services at a Wesleyan Chapel, and at that time no one could hear him who had any belief in the great truths of the Bible without being deeply impressed and stimulated.'
