Bridge Street - Castle Street

At the middle of Bridge St looking down. Showing The Wheatsheaf pub on the right. See NCCN000477 for the same location in 1953. There is a sad message of a man going off to the 1st World War on the back of this postcard. It is dated 25 May 1918..'My Dear Lilian, Just a line to let you know I am still in England, we have got as far as Dover. I don't know when we are going across but I will let you know when we do get across..Goodbye dear.XXXXXXX..Cheerio..Frank'. The goodbye he gives seems so final. I wonder if he ever made it back?
