At the top end of Bridge St looking down. Showing The George Inn on the right. The George Inn was one of Worksop's oldest and most historic inns. Standing no longer, it was replaced by Henry Spencer and Sons, Estate Agent. The building represented in the photograph was one re-built in 1655 to replace an earlier one which had been destroyed by fire. By 1822 as many as 9 coaches per day called there on route connecting Worksop with Doncaster, Lincoln, Manchester and Nottingham. It was closed 26/2/1910. See Notts. County Records compiled by H.
