The telescope pictured was a 15' Cassegrain reflector, one of the most powerful amateur telescopes in the region at the time. It was used by the school up until the early 1980s and then by the Bassetlaw Astronomical Society. By the 1990s, the telescope had been destroyed by vandalism and the obesrvatory was derelict.
