Built in 1631 by William Clerkson of Kirton Hall, Clerkson's Hall was converted in 1880 into the main Estate Office for the Duke of Portland and was subsequently acquired by the then National Coal Board in 1948. It was later divided into flats and is a Grade II listed building.
