Mrs Flatman is the head-mistress and the rector is Rev Wilfred Howard. Back row: Wilfred Blatherwick, Joe Hallam, Ken Hextall, Jack Oxnard 2nd row from back: Evelyn Hunt, Ruth Slater, Phyllis Bond, Eileen Blore, Louie Bailey, Dora Sterling Next row: Mona Hallam, Bessie Price, Elsie Lee, Josephine Blore, Mary Lee Front row: Toni Sterling, Eric Price, Ted Hopkinson, Stanley Martin, Harry Wrath The girls are all wearing school caps with Elston School Badge. E.S. in red and greeen - we were very proud of them! Wilfred Blatherwick lived at Manor Farm, Joe and Mona Hallam at Firs Farm. The Blore's came from Church Farm, Syerston. There was a choice of Elston or Flintham for the Syerston children, they walked to school across the fields footpath. It was very well worn in those days.
